Meet our new product: Days Of The Week T-Shirt Set

These t-shirts are mysterious and enigmatic. You can be absolutely sure you'll stand out from the crowd.

In many languages, days of the weeks are named after the planets or stars. People have been associated days of the week with heavenly luminaries since ancient times. The Days of the Week Tshirt Set celebrates this old tradition with a style. Every T-shirt in this set has a conventionalized symbol of the corresponding heavenly body and explains, what day is dedicated to what planet.

The shirts are:
- Sunday is about Sun
- Monday is about Moon
- Tuesday is about Mars
- Wednesday is about Mercury
- Thursday is about Jupiter
- Friday is about Venus
- Saturday is about Saturn.

On the back of each T-shirt there is an esoteric symbol "Monas hieroglyphica". This symbol was invented in 16th century and represents the unity of the Cosmos. It looks awesome and provocative.

With this T-shirt set, you can look unique at any day of the week.
And, hey, have you ever bought t-shirts by sets? Maybe, it's time to try!

Georgian Alphabet T-shirt

A bit simpler design of the Georgian Alphabet T-shirt:

The color of this T-shirt resembles the world-famous Georgian wines. And grey, the color of the alphabet, pairs with it perfectly.

Manta Ray T-shirt

Mother Nature is a crazy designer. Look at this creature, for example. Manta rays, those elegant sea giants, are awesome. Only a few aquariums worldwide are large enough to house them. In general, these large fish are seldom seen and difficult to study.

The manta on this T-shirt is made of the navy blue foil and pearl vinyl film. The photo doesn't do justice - navy blue foil actually looks better.

Monas Hieroglyphica And Days Of the Week

This t-shirt is mysterious and enigmatic.

The figure on the front is Monas hieroglyphica. Monas hieroglyphica was invented and designed by John Dee, the Elizabethan Magus and Court Astrologer of Elizabeth I of England. It represents the unity of the Cosmos and is a composite of various esoteric and astrological symbols. It looks awesome and provocative. On the back, there are days of the week with the associated heavenly luminaries.

Beside its esoteric symbolism, I like this design for it's big and looks really awesome.

Colorful Russian Alphabet T-Shirts

Bright and unique t-shirts with the Russian alphabet:

Ни пуха, ни пера! Russian Lucky T-shirt

For all of you who is doing finals: Lucky T-shirt. The Russian phrases on this T-shirt is a traditional wish to a student going for an exam:

Ни пуха, ни пера! (lit. (wish you) neither fur, nor feather!) Similar to ‘break a leg’.

Traditional response:

К чёрту! (lit. go to hell!)

The phrase was used as an indirect (negative) farewell “spell” said to hunters leaving for a hunt and aiming to spoof and scare devilry. It was believed that direct good luck wishing could put the evil eye on the hunters and overlook the luck.

Mirror, Mirror On The Wall!

Tales travel across the globe. The Snow White Tale, for example, came to Russia and became The Tale of the Dead Princess and the Seven Knights. Both tales - the original one and its Russian version - have the magic mirror. Here it is:

The Russian equivalent of the "Mirror, mirror on the wall. Who in the land is fairest of all?" is: Свет мой, зеркальце! Скажи, да всю правду доложи: я ль на свете всех милее, всех румяней и белее?
The mirror comes with free stand. Free shipping worldwide.

Weeded Words Welcome You

Hi everybody,

Weeded Words is a design studio and family business run by Paul Philippov and me, Eugenia Vlasova.

Words are my primary material. I have been working with words all my life - as a journalist, linguist, writer and translator. I earned an MA in linguistics and Russian language in 2001 and have never regretted the years I spent studying the most beautiful, complex and elegant human invention - language.

I have immigrated to Canada from Russia in 2010, and shortly thereafter I have launched a new online tutoring business, to which I dedicated my blog ProperRussian (in English, see the shop blog link). My new business allowed me to meet people from all over the world, from Japan to Chile, and learn about different cultures. I’ve met many people who shared my passion for languages and I decided to create something good for them.

As a language geek, I know how good it feels talking to someone who is as enthusiastic about languages as you are. Stickers, decals and other souvenirs may help us to find each other in the crowd. As a teacher, I know that visual aid is a powerful learning tool. This is how the idea of the Weeded Words was born.

Please explore our shop and feel free to contact me if you have any specific requests. I hope, you’ll find something helpful for you here, something that resonates with your thoughts and sentiments.
